Potential Effects Of Phone Radiation To Our Body

Convenience is an important hallmark of the technology in the modern era. However, there are consequences of implementing modern technology in our lives. Our technology is often powered by electricity and this result in the emission of electromagnetic waves. There’s a concern that electromagnetic radiation could have health-based implications, such as its effects on the development of embryo and the level of fertility. It is important that we safeguard our well-being and health. Electromagnetic waves at higher frequency could cook meat in microwave oven, so even at low intensity, there could be some effects on the most delicate cells in our body, such as in our brain and reproductive organs.

Unfortunately, it is now impossible to avoid electromagnetic completely. So, it is important for us to be aware of the common sources of radiation around us. This is an important thing, if we want to reduce our exposure to radiation. There are many examples of how to reduce exposure, such as carrying mobile phones in bags or purse, instead of in pocket. If we don’t have pockets, we could switch the Airplane Mode on in our smartphone. In essence, smartphones rely on radio frequency, to transmit and receive voice calls and data. The frequency of RF radiation, between 825 and 915 MHz. The radiation is emitted by both the cellular base stations and mobile phone handsets. Just like how microwave oven works, the RF radiation of our smartphones may have an effect on body in our cells.

When electromagnetic radiation hits molecules in our body, thermal effects are produced. The dielectric heat could potentially cause the death of tissue in our body. Because smartphones are often placed inside the pocket of our pants or trousers, the can be placed near the reproductive organs of men and women. The DNA in our cells is incredibly complex and there could damages to chromosomes. If the DNA is accidentally altered due to continuous exposure of radiation, there will be changes in functions of cells. Reproduction problems can be affected if radiation affects the rate of cell replication and division. It can be accelerated or slowed down, both can be bad for the development of foetus. When cells divide rapidly in the womb, constant exposure to radiation may potentially cause birth defects or illnesses on newly born infants.

There are also indications that constant exposure to mobile phone radiation can have an effect on the quality and production of sperm. In many homes and offices, landline telephones are still used. For the sake of convenience, people choose cordless phones and they may emit the same level of radiation on our body. The risk can be potentially higher, because there are two transceiver points in the same room, the telephone unit and the handheld device. In office settings, there could be more than a dozen of cordless phone units in a single room, which could expose people continuously to radiation. Some of the health issues that affect employees could have direct or indirect correlation to radiation exposure.
