Robots that help humans – Fetch Robotics

There is a growing concern that as functions and processes become more technology based, there will be an extinction of human workers within the industrial and manufacturing industry. However, at Fetch Robotics they’re looking to combine both together to get the best of both worlds. For example, they’re recent innovation is the ‘pick’ and ‘freight’ robots which help humans to pick items off shelves efficiently and have them transported elsewhere.

Augmented reality search – Blippar

Augmented reality make a massive breakthrough when Pokemon Go was introduced to the world. Now, the trend is continuing to grow, more specifically in search. Blippar are looking to compete with Google by visual search. Users are able to take images through their app of everyday items and places and find out further information about it. For example, holding your phone to an image of a product can provide results on where you can find it in a local shop, if there are any in stock and nutritional information. 

A personal assistant that uses initiative – Viv

AI technology has already been a great innovation for the public with the likes of Siri and Google Home being the major ball players in the sector. However, the makers of Siri are looking to take it even further by creating an assistant that uses initiative with what you require. For example, if you let it know you’re drunk it’ll use this as a sign that you probably need a taxi and call a local taxi firm to pick you up.

Solving the common issue of wi-fi problems – Eero

Common wifi problems are a source of stress and problems so solving the problem is going to be a major revelation. Luckily, tech company Eero have produced white pods that help to rectify the problem. The technology combines Bluetooth and networking to expand the reach of wifi signals around the home. There can be several brought that can connect together to produce better connection around the house.

Creating items through soup – Carbon3D

We need to make it clear that it’s not completely made by soup. Carbon3D use resin soup create different shapes that incredibly can be used to create equipment in the manufacturing industry. Companies such as Ford have already taken an interest into the technology to help create features for their cars. Depending on its capabilities, the shapes being created could be anything from a washing machine to anything as large as ventilation systems.
